The Wonders of Technology
August 10, 2009A few weeks ago, our song mixes got mixed up and we are currently working on these using our raw recording materials. Aside from our busy work schedule and rehearsals from our recent Praise Fest, remixing is one one of the reasons why we haven’t post any articles lately.
While working on one of the songs sung by James, we thought of putting additional voices to make it sound more interesting, since the original mix is a pure solo. Because we don’t want to consume a lot of studio time during the actual recording of the additional voices, we started working on the tune of each of the additional voice parts at home. It would also be tiring if we would be singing the additional voice parts repeteadly until we get the right tune for each. This would also definetly require several recording takes. So we used a software that someone recently introduced to us. This software could alter the key of a selected note of the song without sounding unnatural.
Initially, our intention of using the software is just for planning, creating and auditioning the right melody for the additional voice parts without going to the actual recording of the voices, and to correct minor flaws in case there are some flats or sharps in the voice recording. But we were amazed when we listened to the results because even after manipulating the notes of the audio track, the voice of James still sound so natural. It is, as if he sung and recorded the second and third voice melodies in separate recording sessions. The result was so good that we thought of not having another recording session anymore. Instead, we will just be refining the results further and think of the melodies of the other voice parts that we have not completed yet, using the said software. In the next few weeks or so, we will be posting the audio and lyrics of that song.
By the way, the song that we are referring to above is entitled “I Long to Worship Thee”. By then, we hope to hear from you to know what you think about the use of software to create voice melodies in this song.
Please continue to visit our site regularly as we have many other topics to include in the future that might be of interest to you.
God Bless you all.
