“Watch and pray, that you enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” - Mat 26:41

This song was written for a play on the last day of the Christian Life Program (CLP) attended by Froilan in October of 1994. He was asked by his facilitators Franco and Edna de Roxas to write a song that will serve as the finale of the play. And this is the result after a day of thinking, writing and praying.  

The theme of the play is very common in most CLP programs. That is, these are my old ways and habbits, and this is me today after turning back to the Lord. This is really the common testimony of most CLP participants. They were changed after being with the lord again. Sustaining this change is still a challenge though because our spirit is very much willing change but our flesh is weak that we easily give in to temptations. In our case, remaining active in our church and Christian community helps us a lot.

I DON’T WANT TO BE IN THE DARK

 Verse 1:

My spirit is strong but my flesh is weak

But just call on me Lord and I’ll be there quick

I don’t want to be back where I used to belong

I’ll just stay by Your side and love You forever

Chorus:

I don’t want to be in the dark

I just want to be in Your light

Where everything is bright

even in the middle of the night

I just want to praise and thank You lord

Because of You I have salvation

I no longer have to be afraid

when it’s time for me to leave the world behind

Verse 2:

I have offended You lord so many times before

I called on You lord and I opened my door

You touch my heart

You forgive me and You give me more

With Your love and Your mercy

I’ll leave forever
